However, Villa was signed by Barcelona from Valencia in 2010. In 2013 he joined Atletico Madrid. After Atletico he moved to New York.   Villa explained: “I just decided to leave because I had lost my starting spot. I have always tried to be realistic about where I am, where I can go, I lost my place and I was not playing as much for technical reasons.   “The easy path would have been staying at Barcelona, to keep winning titles, prestige and reputation, but I wanted to be on the pitch. I looked for a way out.”   The former Spain international forward stressed: “But then the media turned it into something else, when it was that simple: I did not want to be on the bench more than the pitch.”   Speaking about a broken leg during his second season at Barca, Villa said: “I have had a lot of luck,  but that was very serious. During his various stops he lamented the manner in which the stadium was left to rot and different facilities which were not maintained.  He directed his frustrations at the National Sports Commission officials on ground.  According to the Sun, Dalung slammed the officials on ground for leaving his supposed office at the stadium to rot with rodents, cobwebs and crawlies and even wrote his name on the dusty table given to him to show his anger and frustrations.  While at the swimming section, Dalung slammed Joseph Odebeatu who has been given the contract to upgrade the swimming pool for the manner in which the upgrade was being handled.  He said: “I know that the work going on is a political gimmick because the Minister is coming for inspection. Once the minister goes the work stops..  “I am interested in the projects and facilities and I am going to beam my searchlight on the contractors once funds are provided.”  This was the second time the minster had visited the stadium since his appointment.

The Blues are reportedly planning to spend big following a disastrous first half of the season and are looking to the Spanish playmaker to help start their revival. According to The Evening Standard, Madrid are unwilling to sell but the 23-year-old might try and force a move with concerns that he could lose his place in Spain's squad for Euro 2016.  But that was before Rafa Benitez was replaced by Zinedine Zidane, who reportedly convinced Isco to ignore Man City in 2013.

Senate panel visits Kaduna today over Zaria killings

</div>Members of the Senate adhoc committee on the Zaria killings are going to Kaduna state today on a fact finding mission, our correspondent has gathered. The committee which was constituted to investigate the killings of members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria in Zaria after an altercation with the military, met with members of the movement last week. At the meeting which was held behind closed door, representatives of the movement told the committee their own account of the incident. Our correspondent gathered that the committee resolved to visit the Kaduna state Governor Nasir El-Rufai and the Emir of Zazzau Shehu Idris during one of their meetings attended by 13 members of the panel. It was gathered that the committee’s members will also visit the movement’s Hussainiyya Islamic centre, among other property destroyed by the military after the incident in Zaria. A member of the committee confirmed the visit to our correspondent by telephone but declined further comment, saying the visit was not for public consumption. Also a document seen by our correspondent at the National Assembly showed that the committee would be in Kaduna today. Efforts to get confirmation from the chairman of the committee, Senator Ahmed Lawan yielded no result as his phone was not available  at the time of filing this report.
