Android 7.0 Nougat is here with us. Like previous Android releases, Google will be updating it going forward to fix any emerging issues.
For Android Marshmallow, the only update it’s ever received was the bump from Android 6.0.0 to Android 6.0.1. Minor but important. These days, such a minor update that results in a point upgrade to the version number does not just entail bug fixes and stability improvements but also the monthly security updates we’ve come to expect from Google.
In the case of Android Nougat, this will come in the form of Android 7.1, Android 7.1.1 and Android 7.1.2. This, according to Evan Blass, will be done on a quarterly basis. If the past is anything to go by, this should start happening before the year ends.
The next three quarterly maintenance releases of Android Nougat will be Android 7.1 / 7.1.1 / 7.1.2

Last week, within hours of Android 7.0’s official rollout, various web admins reported sightings of Android 7.1 in their site logs which means that Google has been testing this internally for a while now.
