HTC’s 2016 flagship smartphone, the 10, enjoyed favourable reviews when it launched earlier in the year and is highly regarded by reviewers, critiques and ordinary users alike.
Now HTC wants to dilute it a bit by releasing a new smartphone in its mid-range Desire series allegedly going by the name Desire.

This news is courtesy of renowned leaker Evan Blass who shared a mock-up photo of the purported device on Twitter as well.

The Desire 10, if it exists, will mark the continuation of HTC’s quest to streamline the naming system of its devices. The company early on dropped the One branding on its flagships in favour of a simple numbering system and the Desire lineup is expected to follow suit by dropping the three-digit model numbering system in favour of a much simpler one.

According to @evleaks, the device is expected sometime in the third quarter of the year. Further details of the device like specifications remain unknown at this point but it is likely going to be the highest-specced HTC Desire smartphone in the market when it launches.

With the HTC 10 mainly castigated for its price, the Desire 10 may be an interesting draw for HTC fans across the globe and may be just what the doctor ordered for the Taiwanese company which has undergone much turbulence in recent years in the wake of weak sales of its devices and internal management changes.
